Adam Clarke nds out why. A s the regulatory spotlight on CIPC intensi ed and its withdrawal became inevitable, McCain Foods (GB), the largest purchaser of potato crops grown in Great Britain, was getting prepared. Initially, this involved supporting and following the trials work carried out by researchers at AHDB’s Sutton Bridge Crop Storage Research facility, then in the 2016- 17 storage period the company started to conduct its own work with ethylene in a commercial environment. In that rst season, McCain agronomist Je Beever said the company set up a trial in a 1,400t box store which looked at the e cacy of Je Beever.
