In memory of Gwen Tarbuck, 1930-2020 We sometimes receive donations from families in memory of a loved one, which include some wonderful stories about how they benefited from our support. We’d like to share one of these stories with you: A keen painter and seamstress, Gwen was a member of Coeliac UK for over 20 years, depending on the charity for information on the gluten free diet which helped her regain her strength and enthusiasm after experiencing symptoms for many years. Her daughter Sheila told us, “We were very pleased to ask Gwen’s family and friends to make donations to the charity in her memory, as Gwen always said that Coeliac UK had been her life saver.” We would like to share our condolences and thank Sheila and all of Gwen’s family and friends for their donations at this sad time. IT’S NOT TOO EARLY… Our range of Christmas cards, accessories and gifts are now available to purchase from our online shop. Choose from a range of festive card designs, such as the adorable Robin and Little Donkey (pictured), as well as gift wrap, bags and labels, plus our popular Pass the Parcel game. It may seem like a long way off, but there’s nothing like a little forward planning to help you save time at Christmas. What’s more, at least 15% of the money from each pack of cards and 40% from our merchandise goes towards supporting Coeliac UK. You can order using the Christmas card leaflet provided with your newsletter, or by heading over to www.charitycardshop.com/coeliacuk , or calling 01227 811640 . Digital cards are also available to purchase online. WHAT’S NEXT FOR OUR LOCAL GROUPS? We know that many of our community enjoy attending local group activities and events. At the time of going to print, we are still advising our groups that all meetings remain suspended until further notice, to ensure that you and those around you can stay safe. You can find the latest information and updates on local group events at www.coeliac.org.uk/get- involved/events. SUPPORTING YOUR COMMUNITY We celebrated National Volunteers’ Week from 1-7 June 2020. It was the perfect opportunity to introduce you to just a few of our wonderful volunteers, and for them to share their stories about why they volunteer. Volunteers make a huge difference to Coeliac UK, and without them we wouldn’t be able to reach as many people in our gluten free community as we do – so thank you to all of our volunteers for dedicating your time to us. During Volunteers’ Week, we received several new enquiries about volunteering, and we’d like to give a big welcome t o those who have recently joined us. If you missed our volunteers’ stories , you can read them and find out more about w hat it’s like to volunteer with us at www.coel iac.org.uk/why-I-volunteer .
