It is particularly lively and dynamic in high season, with plenty of activities and events for all to enjoy. The area’s highlights include Perpignan and the King of Majorca’s castle, the medieval citadel of Carcassonne or the lovely, picturesque town of Collioure. Less famous maybe but totally worth a day out with your family is the so-called “little yellow train”, a symbol of the Catalan country and heritage. It gives you the opportunity to discover and explore gorgeous Pyrenees landscapes from one or all of its 22 stations. Close to the Spanish border, between Port-Vendres and Banyuls-sur-Mer, you’ll also love Anse des Paulilles, a protected area with gorgeous Mediterranean landscapes and a unique wildlife. 107
