W ell, although no-one in Government has actually uttered the words ‘second wave’, I think we can safely assume that’s the unhappy position we are in pandemic-wise. And the best way of surviving both personally and in business is to support each other and find new and more efficient ways of working. With grit, determination and a positive mindset we have the ability to come out of this much stronger. This way of thinking was reinforced in the joint NBS/FIS webinar held at the end of September, called ‘Deconstructing Fit-out: Is greater collaboration a pipedream?’ (FIS and NBS formed a strategic partnership in the summer to drive up standards and compliance through information sharing and best practice amongst construction professionals). The consensus among the webinar speakers and the audience was that early collaboration on all projects is key to success. You can read a full report on the webinar on page 15. Elsewhere in this issue we carry a review of how the FIS supports its members.
