MOVERS & SHAKERS 16 www.thefis.org Newmanagement team introduced SIG’s new management team was introduced to around 1,000 professionals from throughout the industry at its first live video conference. The event was hosted by BBC TV presenter Dan Walker who interviewed SIG Group CEO Steve Francis, the new UK Managing Director Philip Johns and co-ordinated a panel of SIG UK Directors answering customer questions. The event saw product and service breakout groups covering technical insulation, drylining, construction accessories, fire protection, roofing, design and technology, interiors, merchants and natural slate. Philip said: “We had some great initial feedback on the content and all the elements are still available for interested parties to watch on our SIG Connected portal.” As well as Philip Johns’ appointment earlier this year, the new UK Board of Directors includes David Hope and Richard Burnley, who have returned to the company as Divisional Managing Directors North and South respectively for the distribution business, which includes such brands as SIG Insulation, Construction Accessories and Fixings. David has more than 22 years in the industry, including 10 years at SIG where latterly he held the position of Sales & Marketing Director for SIG Distribution. Richard has rejoined SIG from his most recent role as MD for Kingspan Insulations. He previously worked at SIG for nine years holding various director roles. To drive the roofing part of SIG, George King has become Divisional Managing Director South (Exteriors) and John Magee has taken on the position of UK Operations Director. Andy Williamson, who has more than 25 years’ experience in the construction industry, including 11 years with the IKO Group, has taken on the role of Commercial Director. www.sigplc.com CCF APPOINTS NEWTECHNICAL HEAD Insulation and interior building products distributor, CCF, has appointed Jolyon Berg as Head of Technical. Bringing 17 years’ experience to the role, he will be responsible for the development of the company’s technical function – advancing its current capabilities in areas such as insulation, as well as supporting the business’s continued growth. Jolyon joins CCF from Saint-Gobain Isover where he was Head of Technical for the past three years and before that, in a number of roles including production and project management. He said: “The building industry is constantly evolving and there are further changes that will impact on the sector over the coming months – not least the changes to Part L of the Building Regulations and those around high rise buildings. Through the growth of our technical function, the CCF business will be much better positioned to help our customers through these changes.” National Sales Director at CCF, Craig Newman, said: “Jolyon is a fantastic addition to the CCF team and will be instrumental in the development of our technical offering, not least in the insulation space. Internally he will also develop some of the company’s business support functions, which will see a greater level of intelligence across our portfolio and in turn, support our customers’ businesses even further.” www.ccfltd.co.uk Search is on for drylining apprentice Last year Measom opened the first Drylining Centre of Excellence, in partnership with Havering Colleges.
