The past 18 months in the role have been incredibly rewarding for me. I’ve watched the magazine grow in content and coverage, and am proud to have helped shape it into a good source-book full of solid news and feature content relevant to all those in fit-out. It’s been great to share your successes, respond to your concerns and questions and keep you up-to-date with all the good work being carried out by FIS. The last couple of issues have been some of the most challenging as we’ve sought to provide as much help and insight as possible into the effects of COVID-19. With so many people working remotely, we took a break from printing the magazine so we could instead provide everyone with a digital copy sent straight to their email inboxes, wherever they had based themselves during lockdown. This month, we interview Indeglas’ MD Jeanette MacIntyre who has some insightful messages based on her own achievements and experiences over the years, and Tony Walker of PPG talks about how architectural coatings have the power to improve health and wellbeing. It’s always good to see new people and skills coming into the sector, particularly in these challenging times, so be sure to turn to our ‘Movers and Shakers’ page to catch up with the latest appointments. In our Health and Safety focus, Ian Strudley discusses why reducing MSD should start at the planning stage, not when the lorry arrives, while Joe Cilia provides a technical update and Damian James looks at benchmarking within Contractors’ Corner. All that remains is to say goodbye and good luck to you all, while I sincerely hope we’ll continue to cross paths during my new role, still in the construction sector. I’ll be leaving you in the very capable hands of my successor, Nicky Rogers, who will be introducing herself to you in the November issue.
