16 POTATO REVIEW SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 2020 ANNUAL TRIALS DAY T he 2020 Whole Crop Marketing (WCM) annual trials day became one of the rst events in the UK agricultural sector to take place post Covid-19. e 10th annual trials day took place in South Cave, East Yorkshire on August 19th, having been postponed from its original scheduled dates earlier on in the season. e event was also reduced to one day from its usual three. However, after careful planning and liaising with local authorities, WCM was able to safely open its doors and welcome the industry back to its trials site. Following government recommendations and advice from Humberside Police, who approved the event’s go-ahead, strict measures were in place to reduce the risk of Covid-19 at the outdoor event, including Track & Trace, temperature checking on arrival, social distancing and hand 10th trials day opens to visitors Strict Covid-19 measures are in place but Yorkshire outdoor event goes ahead, with new varieties displayed. “Attendees were happy to have their temperature checked on arrival and obey social distancing rules.
