NEWS Tesco plays dirty for first time since 70s! A NEW scheme will see unwashed white potatoes sold across more than 260 Tesco supermarkets until end of August. It will be the first time since the 1970s that muddy potatoes have been sold in store, but scales will be adjusted so shoppers only pay for the potato themselves, not the mud. The move is part of a strategy to cut down on food waste. Tesco has said it could also potentially double potatoes’ shelf life.
