April | May 2021 PRODUCTS & SERVICES 44 The Innovation Zone MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC USE R32 TO OFFER A LOW GWP E-SERIES CHILLER Mitsubishi Electric has introduced an R32 version e-series modular heat pump chiller to replace the existing R410a range. The new models target commercial and multi- residential applications. It is available in variations of 150 kW and 180kW, and up to six modules can be combined as a single system. The e-series has a Seasonal Energy Eƒciency Ratio of up to 5.52, a Delta T of up to 10 o K and internal headers making it ideal for commercial buildings, such as oƒces, large retail premises, universities, libraries, hospitality and healthcare, as well as low temperature ambient loop heat networks solutions like multi-residential or multi-purpose buildings. James Chaplen, senior product manager at Mitsubishi Electric, said: "Using R32 refrigerant in the system means customers can not only benefit from lower GWP and increased energy eƒciency, but also a reduction of equivalent CO2 emissions of up to 90% against our previous model. With the addition of a heat pump version, customers can also ensure they are supplied with both LTHW and chilled water capabilities." les.mitsubishielectric.co.uk/products/chillers/e- series-modular-chiller-range INFICON IMPROVE RESPONSE TIMES WITH NEW STRIX LEAK DETECTION SENSOR Gas instrumentation manufacturer INFICON has developed a gas sensor with faster response times capable of detecting hydrogen tracer gas with a wide range of leakage rates. The Strix TM sensor and hand probe connects to the INFICON Sentrac Hydrogen Leak Detector to form the new Sentrac Strix TM Edition. Focused on manufacturers of the refrigeration, air conditioning and automotive industries, the Sentrac Strix TM Edition hydrogen leak detector uses a non-flammable forming gas, containing 5% hydrogen and 95% nitrogen, as a tracer gas to find leaks. Diluted hydrogen in this mix is available as a standard shielding gas for welding, generally at a lower cost than helium. The detector does not purge gas through the unit but has the sensor positioned on the probe's tip. This improves response time and reduces the number of contaminants moving through the unit leading to a reduced maintenance requirement. Substantial leaks are identified without the detector becoming over-saturated; it handles high levels of hydrogen in the background, enabling the operation to continue even if the workstation should become contaminated with escaped forming gas. Unlike other instruments, the hydrogen leak detector, Sentrac Strix TM Edition, does not draw gas into the analysis unit. Instead, the sensor is placed at the tip of the probe, further improving response time. This also reduces the build- up of dust in the instrument, thus requiring less maintenance. https://products.inficon.com/en-us/nav-products/ A NEW HVAC RESOURCE HUB FOR ROCKWOOL Insulation manufacturer ROCKWOOL has unveiled a new HVAC Resource Hub to help designers and engineers select insulation products for HVAC installations. The online area features technical literature, CPD learning modules and helpful specification calculators assisting users in balancing air quality versus thermal, acoustic and fire performance. Within the new HVAC Resource Hub, specifiers will find a comprehensive suite of tools to help overcome design conflicts. These include an HVAC Systems Guide complete with specification clauses and installation guidance, and the company's new ROCK-EQ calculator that generates HVAC requirements according to BS EN ISO 12241 - Thermal insulation for building equipment and industrial installations. CPD learning modules on the latest HVAC standards can also be found in the hub, along with case-studies spanning multiple sectors and building types. Coral Morgan, product manager for HVAC & Fire at ROCKWOOL, commented: "Visitors to the hub will find a wealth of guidance on how to achieve all design and regulatory requirements, without compromise, through the e£ective specification of non-combustible insulation, and because all the information is under one roof, it's quick and easy to access too." www.rockwool.com/uk/resources-and-tools/ resource-hubs/hvac-resource-hub/ TESTO IMPROVE DIGITAL OPTIONS WITH A NEW MANIFOLD RANGE Testo has introduced a new range of digital manifolds for the installation and servicing of refrigeration systems, air-conditioning, and heat pumps. This new generation of manifolds o£ers a robust design with weatherproofing to IP54, providing a reliable tool for outdoor use and a large graphic display that allows all measurement parameters to be viewed on a single screen. With the ability to connect Bluetooth probes, the new range o£ers a wireless measurement solution and is complemented by a new multi-functional Smart App. The sizeable dot-matrix type LCD display of the testo 550 and 557 models can display all measurement values on a single screen allowing users to view all required values without scrolling between screens. Also, the display is capable of graphical representation of 'analogue' dials and digital values, allowing a simple transition for users who have previously used purely analogue gauge sets. A range of Applications: The testo 550s and 557s give all values at a glance and is suitable for a range of applications on refrigeration, air conditioning systems and heat pumps. Product features include : • Bluetooth wireless smart probes for temperature and vacuum with 100m range • Pressure leak test function on testo 550s and 557s with a graphical representation of values • Live measurement and display of superheat/subcooling values • IP54 protection class for reliable outdoor operation www.testo.com/en-UK/products/55x
