NEWS 06 April | May 2021 Volume 7 No.3 The Federation of Environmental Trade Associations (FETA) is now part of Actuate UK, a newly formed industry alliance made up of eight leading professional bodies from the engineering services sector. Created as a vehicle for positive, meaningful change within the sector, Actuate UK will support the delivery of a safer, more productive and sustainable UK built environment. By working together, alongside the UK Government and the Devolved Nations, this alliance of professional bodies will tackle the economic, social and environmental factors crucial in ensuring the industry builds back better and greener in the months and years ahead. This will include taking the lead on building safety and the drive towards UK net-zero carbon, championing cultural changes and promoting the skills needed for tomorrow's built environment. Russell Beattie, CEO of FETA, commented, "I am extremely pleased to see this longstanding aspiration come to fruition. There are numerous challenges to be faced, and closer collaboration can only be a positive step as we drive forward together to achieve meaningful change." The P&M Group add coldstore installation business to partner with ISD Solutions The P & M Group Limited, which includes ISD Solutions, has acquired coldstore installation business Tysoe Holdings. Through its subsidiary S Tysoe Installations (STI), the Leicester based company has provided subcontract labour to ISD Solutions for over 25 years providing existing clients, who range from large food retailers to major construction firms, a reassurance that it can o–er a consistent level of service. Simon Tysoe, founder of STI in 1982, felt a sale to The P&M Group would ensure the sustainability of the business. Tysoe said: "I have worked continuously with ISD Solutions for 25 of my 39 years of trading, and our businesses have grown in tandem. After all this time, I have built a business relationship with the company and a personal one with the directors and sta–. I will be staying on with STI and look forward to helping harness the opportunities and talent of both companies." Andy Moon, chairman of The P & M Group, said: "STI is a successful and well-run business in its own right with a strong brand identity. There are no plans for any restructuring other than ensuring each party benefits from the other's strength, knowledge and experience. We are really excited about this major acquisition. Our businesses know each other well, and we have a high mutual level of respect for our achievements and business ethos. "For us, having a labour company as part of the group will help us maintain consistently high standards, particularly regarding quality and health and safety. As well as supplying specialist labour, STI is involved in areas which complement our existing business, including national service and maintenance coverage for the retail, commercial and industrial coldstore markets and expertise in specialist fire protection." The Actuate UK alliance consists of the following bodies: • The Federation of Environmental Trade Associations (FETA) • The Building Engineering and Services Association (BESA) • The Building Services Research and Information Association (BSRIA) • The Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) • Electrical and Engineering Services (ECA) • The Lift and Escalator Industry Association (LEIA) • The Electrical Contractors' Association of Scotland (SELECT) • The Scottish and Northern Ireland Plumbing Employers' Federation (SNIPEF) Actuate UK will bring together technical, practical and commercial know-how from all eight trade bodies and communicate it to the industry as one single, consolidated voice. www.feta.co.uk Left – Simon Tysoe, Right – Andy Moon
