Volume 7 No.6 October | November 2021 NEWS 06 BFFF LAUNCHES ONLINE ACCIDENT DATA SERVICE The British Frozen Food Federation (BFFF) has announced the launch of a new online benchmark platform where members can submit and instantly access accident data. As well as being able to anonymously add accident figures quickly and easily, members can also find detailed reports and graphs to download as PDFs, providing an invaluable management tool for those overseeing health & safety. The reports highlight key issues by accident type and provide a comparison with others in the same sector. Simon Brentnall, head of health & safety at BFFF, said: “Over the last 16 years we have been supporting our members by collating their accident data with the aim of reducing injuries within the industry. This unique tool enables our members to benchmark themselves against each other. Whether food producers, wholesalers or logistics service providers, the data gives those managing health & safety a gauge of how well they are doing and where improvements can be made.” With the aim of reducing the number of accidents, members can book a call with Simon Brentnall and his team to understand the full potential of this new online platform and be able to submit their data for 2020. Members can access the new system now on the BFFF website. As one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of air handling units for the healthcare sector, Barkell has carefully dissected the revised Health Technical Memorandum 03-01 Part A and B guidelines (HTM 03-01 (2021)), from NHS England & NHS Improvement, and the CPD summarises what consultants and facility management teams need to know as a matter of urgency and what the changes mean to the industry long term. The revised guidelines, developed with the help of the CIBSE Healthcare Group, replace the 2007 document and ošer a general refresh, with more emphasis on the selection of appropriate materials and filtration for the plant, the promotion of energy e›cient technologies and the importance of resilience and diversity in these systems in order to provide continuous and sustainable healthcare ventilation, in alignment with the UK legislation for Net Zero by 2050. The release of these revised regulations follows the 2020 government announcement that 40 new hospitals will be built by 2030 as part of a package worth £3.7 billion, delivering on their commitment to improve the UK healthcare infrastructure in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Bruno Guedes, head of technical solutions at Barkell, said: “The revision of the HTM 03-01 guidelines has been much anticipated and the new recommendations bring it in line with current legislation and modern manufacturing methods. The new guidelines are immediately ešective so it is crucial everyone involved in healthcare ventilation projects becomes quickly familiarised with the changes. “We know from feedback that CPDs on legislative matters are very much welcomed by industry professionals, so we wanted to share our knowledge in this particular area as swiftly as possible, to enable current projects to keep moving forward.” The free CPD is available to any industry professional who might benefit from this information.
