This causes chemical changes in the brain, which can help to positively change your mood 3 LEARN NEW SKILLS Learning new skills can boost your self-confidence and help you to build a sense of purpose 4 GIVE TO OTHERS Acts of giving and kindness can create positive feelings and a sense of reward helping you connect with other people 5 PAY ATTENTION TO THE PRESENT MOMENT (MINDFULNESS) Reminding yourself to take notice of your thoughts, feelings, body sensations and the world around you is the first step to mindfulness. Sit silently and pay attention to thoughts, sounds, the sensations of breathing or parts of the body and bring your attention back whenever the mind starts to wander.
