Crossed Grain February 2022

2 | SUPPORTER NEWS Coeliac UK’s Research Conference 2022 SCAN ME Keeping in touch We love staying in touch with our members and supporters, and telephone calls are one of the most effective ways of doing this. As our team is small, we sometimes use agencies to undertake calls on our behalf. Therefore, you may receive a call asking you about your membership and current donation. We have worked with a couple of agencies for a number of years now and we know that their callers are always pleased to speak to our members and supporters. If you have any queries regarding these calls, or would like to change your communication preferences, please contact the Fundraising team on 0333 332 2033 . Don’t miss out on your place at our virtual Nearly Spring Fling fundraising event to help raise money for our Research Fund. Join us on Thursday 24 February at 6.30pm for a fun evening featuring Becky Excell and Jane Devonshire, plus an update on our research activities. Late registration tickets are £25. Please visit coeliac.org.uk/nearlyspringfling by 22 February to purchase or contact fundraising@coeliac.org.uk for more information. Last chance to register for the Nearly Spring Fling! Hello to our Young Champions! In 2021 we had almost 900 Young Champions and their families join Coeliac UK. We love to hear what will help make living gluten free easier for our younger members, so please send us your feedback to YoungChampions@coeliac.org.uk . And don’t forget, if you’d like to help raise awareness and understanding of coeliac disease and the gluten free diet with your friends, school or activity clubs then you can use our Young Champions pack to help you – just like Fulton and 1,700 other Young Champions have over the last few years. Thank you for helping to make a real difference. www.coeliac.org.uk/youngchampions View more details, including our brilliant line up of speakers at coeliac.org.uk/rc2022 A huge thank you to all our raffle players and to Co-op for their support of last year’s Christmas raffle; we are delighted to announce we were able to reach our target of £130,000! Our annual research conference is back again virtually this March, giving international experts in coeliac disease and the gluten free diet an opportunity to share their latest research. Healthcare professionals attend to keep their knowledge up to date and recordings from the event are open to all our gluten free community as well. This year, we’re bringing you some exciting updates from Coeliac UK funded researchers, as well as the latest from international experts on important topics such as gluten analysis, the value of measuring antibody levels after diagnosis and functional gastrointestinal disorders in coeliac disease.
