05 N E W S www.acrjournal.uk/heat-pumps ONLINE TRAINING SCHEME LAUNCHED BY GROUND SOURCE HEAT PUMP ASSOCIATION The Ground Source Heat Pump Association has launched an online training scheme to increase understanding of heat pumps, improve the skill levels of people already working in the UK heat pump industry and give guidance to people who are seeking careers in the heat pump industry. The online training scheme, consisting of four modules, will go-live early in 2022. It will provide people with practical advice and essential information on every aspect of ground source heat pumps. There will also be live online Q&A sessions with senior professionals within the industry, including Laura Bishop, chair of the GSHPA. The scheme will focus on all types of ground source heat pump systems – commercial, residential, mixed use and retrofit, and is aimed towards architects, consultant engineers, contractors, facility managers, energy managers and students – and anyone who has an interest in heat decarbonisation and Net Zero. The course will provide a range of topics including systems approach, building demands and matching to energy source, geology, system hydraulics, design software, combining heat pumps with other technologies, the interface with the supply chain, commissioning and importantly case studies. www.gshp.org.uk BEIS awarded contract for new guidance for large heat pump installations in non-domestic The UK has set a legally binding target to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. Achieving this will require virtually all heat in buildings to be decarbonised, and heat in industry to be reduced to close to zero carbon emissions. The transition to clean heat needs to enable installers to deliver high quality heat pump installations to robust standards to protect businesses and consumers from sub-standard installations. CIBSE are working with an authoring team from Arup and a cross-industry steering group on a contract awarded by BEIS to produce new guidance on the installation of heat pumps in larger non-residential buildings. The project aims to: 1. Produce new guidance for large heat pump installations in non-domestic buildings, in both new and retrofit settings. 2. Contribute towards delivering high quality design, installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of heat pump systems. 3. Increase the awareness of common issues faced in delivering e”ective systems in larger buildings and seeking to reduce instances of ine”ective systems. The guidance will be free to use for designers, installers, and consumers, and will enable installations to follow best practice and be delivered safely, legally and to a high quality. Grant UK achieves Cyber Essentials Plus Certification Grant UK has been awarded the Cyber Essentials Plus Certificate of Compliance, the highest level of certification o”ered under the Cyber Essentials Scheme which assesses the online security of IT infrastructures within businesses. Launched in 2014, Cyber Essentials is a government backed scheme that aims to help organisations to protect themselves against online threats. Using an independent framework, it assesses an organisation’s IT infrastructure to ascertain its ability to prevent and avoid cyber-attacks on the business. The Scheme consists of two tiers of compliance – Cyber Essentials and Cyber Essentials Plus – and Grant UK has passed both levels of assessment. For over three years, Grant UK has held the Cyber Essentials Certificate of Compliance and in November this year, the Company underwent additional assessment to earn the Cyber Essentials Plus certification. Cyber Essentials Plus is the highest level of certification o”ered under the Scheme, rigorously testing an organisation’s cyber security systems. Passing this assessment and holding the Cyber Essentials Plus certification reflects Grant UK’s ongoing commitment to protect customer data, ensuring that best-practice security protocols are used to protect and prevent against cyber-attacks.
