Autumn/Winter 2021 03 A VIEW FROM ON HIGH PAUL GAZE, CEO UPDATES ON THE LATEST AT HAE EHA Paul Gaze CEO I want to offer my congratulations to Graham Arundell in being the recipient of the European Rental Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award. It was great to be with Graham at the ERA Convention in Amsterdam to see him receive the award. I am grateful to Graham for the support he continues to provide at HAE EHA, in the leadership transition and on several projects as a non-executive director. Post-lockdown, we see the re- emergence of a series of public policy issues ranging from fuel and drivers to net zero and inflation. This all reinforces the role of trade associations in supporting members to navigate challenging and ever-changing times. I recently attended an event on net zero and digitalisation which left me in no doubt that collaboration across the industry will be vital if we are to avoid duplication but also maximise support for our respective memberships. Of course, the threat of Covid (and now flu) has not gone away and we must all remain vigilant. Your association will play its part in monitoring government announcements across the UK and in each of the Nations. I also want to highlight and welcome the start of operations for ACE, the new national policing unit for construction and agricultural theft. Organised crime continues to see the hire sector, and more broadly, construction, as a valuable target, so we must share intelligence and information, but also report crime to the police. << ONE OF HAE EHA’S LEADING LIGHTS GETS A WELL DESERVED REWARD, AND CONTINUES TO SUPPORT US AS WE NAVIGATE CURRENT CHALLENGES Graham Arundell receives his Lifetime Achievement Award.
