10 Spring 2021 INDUSTRY NEWS O ne of the largest telehandler hirers in the UK, Ardent Hire Solutions, has expanded its fleet further by placing an order for £26 million as the UK construction hire equipment market rebounds strongly from the Covid-19 pandemic. The additional 525 new machines span the compact 525-60 to the 540- 200 JCB models, which have reaches of between six and 20 metres and have been supplied by JCB dealer Watling JCB along with 25 3CX backhoe loaders. Ardent had also ordered £75 million worth of JCB machines in 2019. London-headquartered Ardent Hire has 11 hire depots in the UK, from Glasgow in the north to Fareham in the south. Specialising in providing plant hire to major housing, civil and construction clients, it has more than 7,000 units for rent with an average age of less than three years. Ardent’s Chief Financial Officer, Julian O’Neill said: “This substantial investment strengthens our position in the telescopic handler hire sector.” The new JCB machines all come with JCB LiveLink telematics technology, providing real-time feeds to support Ardent’s award-winning ‘Site Manager’ digital platform. JCB Group Managing Director for Global Major Accounts Steve Fox said the size of the order underlines the need to invest in new machinery to support the growth in the UK construction industry.
