Flynn Interiors and Nationwide Platforms tackle social distancing on MMUH project Specialist drylining contractor, Flynn Interiors, is using the latest MEWPs and technology to tackle the challenges of plasterboard fitting while adhering to social distancing restrictions. Responsible for fitting 28,000lm of partitions and laying 85,000m² of ceiling grid at the £297mMidland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) in Birmingham, Flynn Interiors faced the challenge of delivering the project while complying with social distancing regulations. MMUH site restrictions dictate that only one operator is allowed on a platform at any time, which makes manual installation challenging. Traditional plasterboard installation on scissor lifts requires two operators so Flynn Interiors worked with Nationwide Platforms to find an alternative solution to be able to comply while operating safely and efficiently. Nationwide Platforms surveyed the site then recommended the Bravi Platforms Leonardo HD with the Solo Gyps dry wall attachment. The Leonardo HD has a zero turn and compact footprint while the Solo Gyps allows one operator to lift panels without assistance, this solution reduced the installation time per panel by 50% with just one operator. Scott Holland, Project Manager, Flynn Interiors says, “In these challenging times, it’s vital that we can adhere to our customers safety protocols. We worked in partnership with Nationwide Platforms to find a solution and using the latest technology and equipment enabled us to comply while also achieving excellent results for the customer.” Matthew Parfitt, Head of Sales, Strategic & National Accounts fromNationwide Platforms says, “Contractors are having to pivot and find new ways of operating to keep their workforce safe from the risk of COVID-19 as well as the normal hazards of the job. It’s a massive undertaking. For Flynn Interiors, the Leonardo HD and Solo-Gyps was the ideal solution for the jobsite requirements. It’s helped save time and money but most importantly it helped Flynn Interiors comply with the customer’s regulations and keep the workforce safe.” www.nationwideplatforms.co.uk EOS Framing is celebrating another award win.
