Canopies and baffles added to Zentia’s mineral ceiling system portfolio UK manufacturer, Zentia, has launched a range of mineral ceiling canopies and baffles to give specifiers further design flexibility on projects. The canopies and baffles are quick and easy to install and are therefore ideal for contractors working on new-build or refurbishment projects. The canopies and baffles both offer exceptional acoustics, with double-sided sound absorption, making them ideal for areas with high footfall and user volume. The canopies can also be used as wall absorbers, adding style and sound absorption performance to interior walls in open plan, high traffic areas like airport lobbies and educational settings. Both the canopies and baffles feature 80 percent light reflectance to help bounce natural light around a space and reduce the use of artificial light. Manufactured with an 85% recycled glass fibre core and a scrimmed, laminated finish for ease of cleaning, they also feature 90 percent relative humidity resistance, maintaining their shape and structure in warm, humid environments. Simple and speedy to install, the baffles both perform to fire safety standard EEA Euroclass A2-s2,d0 EN 13501-1. www.zentia.com Innovations Ours is a fast-paced industry, matched only by the lightning speed of innovation in its products and ways of designing and installing them. Do you know if they’re fit-for-purpose? And if there was a problem with any of them, would you know how to deal with it? That is the question BSI Identify sets out to answer – it is a solution designed to improve traceability and drive safety in the built environment. ‘BSI Identify’ is a digital identification service that uses DOI (digital object identifier) technology to providemanufacturers with a single place to add andmaintain their product information in real time. Each product is assigned a unique, enduring and traceable digital object identifier called a BSI UPIN (Universal Persistent Identification Number), which can be marked with a QR code, NFC or RFID tags. These UPINs are then held in an accessible and searchable registry available to all operators, for a safer and more transparent supply chain. Benefits of BSI Identify BSI Identify is designed to help solve the product traceability challenge in the supply chain. For product manufacturers it is a clear signal of their commitment to product and customer safety. For supply operators, it is a one-stop resource to find relevant and always up-to-date information on a product. BSI Identify can also help manufacturers to conform to industry initiatives, such as the newly introduced Code for Construction Product Information (CCPI). Using the UPIN product landing page allows manufacturers to efficiently present and control clear, accurate, up-to-date, accessible and unambiguous product information. https://identify.bsigroup.com/ Most innovative timber product of 2021 The Finish Line Collection cladding range launched by James Latham in 2020, has been recognised in two industry awards for its development, design and performance. Judges of the BritishWoodworking Federation (BWF) Awards 2021 gave it the top spot in both the Process Efficiency category and Product Design inWood category. The former recognised Lathams for “innovative and collaborative product development” with the Lathams team bringing Accoya Timber, timber engineering company, Dresser Mouldings, and Canadian coating specialist, Sansin, together to develop the range. The design category “recognises excellence in technical innovation, design and application in joinery product manufacture.” Judges said that they selected Finish Line because of its performance, quality factory finish and range of options available. The Accoya provides a strong foundation for the Finish Line Collection. With a warranty of up to 50 years when used above the ground, it is a natural fit for cladding. It is well known for its durability due to the natural modification process (acetylation) and its performance rivals hardwoods. The cladding arrives on-site factory finished, front, back and ends, in a selection of 12 unique colours, effectively encapsulating the timber in a breathable envelope. www.lathamtimber.co.uk Lathams Finish Line Cladding colours
