The manufacturer says a combination of lower GWP, improved seasonal efficiency and reduced refrigerant charge substantially reduces the carbon footprint of the new units, which are available in cooling capacities from 23 to 91kW and heating capacities from 22 to 90kW. “The Vectios on R454B offers an optimum solution for rooftop applications,” said Natividad Molero, product manager, rooftops, CIAT. “As supermarkets and other end users seek to decarbonise and cut their energy costs, our extended range of R-454B refrigerant options provide a ready-made solution to support them on their journey to net zero.” Vectios on R454B is said to be as space-saving and quiet-running as the previous generation, while significantly reducing environmental impact and delivering higher efficiencies and lower operating costs for end users. Equipment performance is certified under the Eurovent scheme. For installers, the units are designed to be easy to lift and position on site, and, once in place, simply require air ducts and electrical connection. https://www.ciat.com/en/eu/products-systems/ rooftop-units-and-packaged-systems/rooftop- units/vectios-tm-r-454b/ TRANE CHILLERS OPTIMISED FOR R1234ZE Trane has introduced new air-cooled Sintesis eXcellent GVAF and water- cooled XStream eXcellent GVWF chillers with magnetic-bearing compressors optimised for ultra-low GWP R1234ze refrigerant. The high-speed centrifugal compressor technology allows the units to offer larger capacities, wider operating maps matching the toughest European climate conditions, and increased seasonal efficiencies, all within a smaller size. R1234ze has a GWP value of one to exceed current F-Gas legislation requirements and help customers reduce their carbon dioxide emissions and achieve extreme part load and full load efficiencies. The air-cooled Sintesis eXcellent GVAF models offer capacities from 450kW to 1600kWwith seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) up to 6.5, which makes them suitable for hospitals, office buildings and industrial process applications. Additionally, the new Sintesis eXcellent GVAF features models specifically designed for data centre applications with capacity up to 1900kW. The water-cooled XStream eXcellent GVWF chillers benefit from the magnetic- bearing technology optimised for R1234ze refrigerant, and now offer increased performance and cost effectiveness. The GVWF XSE range delivers from 380 up to 2.1 MW of capacity with SEER of up to 10 and enlarged operating map of up to 30°C evaporator leaving water temperature, making it ideal for comfort cooling, data centres and industrial process applications. To take advantage of low ambient conditions, the new chillers also include optimised free cooling system for more efficient combination offering minimized energy consumption of the system. www.trane.eu WEBINAR: FIGHTING ICE AND MIST IN FREEZER STORES Condair is presenting a webinar on how commercial freezer store managers can prevent ice by lowering air humidity with dehumidification. By proactively removing the moisture from the air inside the freezer or ante-room, ice will not form on walls, ceilings and floors near entrances, and the need to defrost chiller plant is significantly reduced. This hugely improves productivity and provides a more efficient and safer working environment. The webinar is free to attend, is taking place on 23rd February at 2pm (UK time) and will be presented by Dave Marshall-George, Sales Director at humidity control specialist Condair. In the 45-minute session, Dave will be explaining the benefits of using dehumidifiers in freezer stores, the different strategies available for doing so, and the energy considerations for both running the dehumidifier and how overall freezer store energy consumption can be reduced. He said: “It’s impossible to stop moisture entering a freezer store, but by lowering the air humidity with dehumidifiers and removing the water before it freezes, operations can be greatly improved. Ice on floors presents a slip hazard. Ice on walls and ceilings can obstruct signage or lights, interfere with mechanisms or simply detach and fall on to people. Mist is also reduced at lower humidity, improving visibility. Beyond these obvious benefits, chiller plant runs more efficiently in drier air, directly saving energy, and will need much less defrosting. This improves the uptime of the system, temperature control of the store and further reduces energy consumption used for defrosting." To register for the webinar, visit www.condair.co.uk/webinars. INDOOR UPGRADE FOR NANOE X Panasonic Heating & Cooling Solutions has introduced its new VRF Mini Cassette with nanoe X Mark 3 Generator as standard, in six capacities ranging from 1.5-5.6kW. It is Panasonic’s first indoor unit to integrate its upgraded nanoe X Mark 3 Generator, which produces 48 trillion hydroxyl radicals per second, 100x more than original nanoe. Hydroxyl radicals have the capacity to inhibit five types of pollutants, including certain viruses and bacteria, to clean and deodorise. The compact a VRF Mini Cassette requires a ceiling depth of only 250mm, and the exposed panel height is just 30mm. It features individual, customisable flap control with four motors, one for each flap, promising air distribution without direct airflow to reduce the feeling of cold draught. Additionally, the DC drain pump and float switch has been improved to reduce noise and increase efficiency. The units have a variety of connectivity options including a centralised intelligent controller, Panasonic’s CONEX, Panasonic’s AC Smart Cloud and AC Service Cloud, and VRF Smart Connectivity+. https://www.aircon.panasonic.eu/
