He will be supported by newly elected vice-chairman, Francesco Di Giovanni (Daikin Applied Europe). Ferrandi, product manager at Swegon Group, has in-depth knowledge of thermotechnics, thermofluid-dynamics, electrical engineering, transmission and production of energy from renewable and traditional sources. He said: “After many years of working with polyvalent units I really believe that they can play an important role in the reduction of the carbon footprint of HVAC industry but need to be officially recognised for their real values and credits with a clear indication of the advantages that this type of unit could offer.” Di Giovanni added: “I am honoured to be part of this task force. The work we are doing is critical as the polyvalent units play a fundamental role in the decarbonisation process. Current efficiency index conceived for heat pumps and chillers are not representative of polyvalent units. As industry experts we are in the unique position to provide our knowledge to define a proper energy efficiency index for this technology.” The Eurovent Task Force 'Polyvalent Units' (TF-POL) covers systems that provide intelligent solutions to air conditioning and heat pump requirements. Polyvalent units are subjected to Regulations (EU) 813/2013 below 400kW and 2016/2281 above400kW which penalise polyvalent units not fully accounting heat recovery benefits. The Task Force is composed of participants of Eurovent Product Group ‘Air Conditioners’ (PG-AC) and Product Group ‘Liquid Chilling Packages and Heat Pumps’ (PG-LCP-HP). https://eurovent.eu/ COLLEEN KEYWORTH, DR INA COLOMBO-YOULA, INWIC Colleen Keyworth has been appointed as the first president of the International Network for Women in Cooling (INWIC). She will be succeeded by Dr Ina Colombo-Youla, who was elected president-elect. Formed earlier this year, INWIC was the idea of World Refrigeration Day founder Steve Gill.
