Impact Report 21 ISBA Recruitment In November 2021, we o cially launched ISBA Recruitment. ISBA Recruitment o ers schools a comprehensive bursar recruitment service, whether they are looking to fill an interim or permanent role in the UK or internationally. ISBA Recruitment provides an in-depth knowledge of the bursar role, a unique insight into independent schools’ needs and an unrivalled understanding of exactly what it takes to deliver a high-quality appointee via a successful and testing recruitment process for schools. From September 2020 to 1 January 2022 we placed 191 bursars in interim roles in member schools. We also continued to provide appraisal services for those schools seeking additional support. Meeting members’ needs In November 2021 we launched a Financial Health Check service for schools where an external financial assessment can be done to see where the school sits on the business success curve and whether any change to its financial profile or policies are required. We have been delighted that 114 schools have joined or re- joined ISBA over the last two years and our membership now stands at more than 1200 schools. It is a cost and time e ective service to our member schools that is designed to assist with the recruitment of bursars and senior support sta . What makes it dierent? The Association has a wealth of sector intelligence to bring to bear when recruiting and the aim of the service is to provide schools with a shortlist of candidates, each of whom could be appointed, from which they can interview and select the most suitable. The fee charged reflects the work involved in advertising, creating and interviewing a long list of candidates and presenting a short list to the school. So, will ISBA be headhunting bursars from their existing posts? No, ISBA Recruitment works only with those candidates who apply in response to an advert, whether on the ISBA jobs board or elsewhere. How many schools have engaged this ISBA service? The service was available from 1 January 2022 and already ISBA is engaging with its first seven schools.
