48 Issue 3 2020 S upplier of environmentally centred lighting towers, Trime UK, has received an award by The Green Organisation in recognition of the X-Solar lighting tower’s sustainable qualities. It’s the second award the international environment group, which is independent and non-political, is the second has bestowed on the company, which was also recognised in 2018 for the water-saving X-Splash wash bay system. Senior representatives from the Cambridgeshire-based company were invited to receive their award at a presentation ceremony hosted at the Houses of Parliament on November23rd. The Trime X-Solar Hybrid is a LED lighting tower that is powered by a combination of solar energy, battery power, backed-up by an engine driven battery charging system to ensure continual illumination. The set features four 100-watt LED lamps that deliver a light coverage of 2,400 square metres, combined with up to 3,000 hours of uninterrupted running without refuelling. For 95% of its operation, the X-Solar Hybrid emits zero noise along with 97% zero emissions. Trime engineers have calculated that the X-Solar Hybrid will bring significant cost savings and environmental gains when compared to a standard lighting tower. As the Trime lighting set only uses £5 worth of fuel per month, an operator’s diesel costs could diminish by £457 per month. Trime UK Managing Director, Paul Hay said: “We are delighted to receive this accolade. Environmental issues concerning the use of fossil fuels on sites are a major subject, so we have been focussing our product development to promote the use of renewables. To have the X-Solar Hybrid officially acknowledged as a sustainable product is extremely satisfying.” The Green Apple Awards began in 1994 and have become established as the country’s major recognition for environmental endeavour among companies, councils, communities and countries. The Green Organisation is dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world. The Green Organisation and The Green Apple Awards have become well established as one of the most popular environmental campaigns in the world.
