Beryl is third in from the right
don’t have to’, but we all need to do our
bit to get the CCGs to listen,” Beryl says.
Beryl works hard to make sure that
the prescriptions campaign in her area
is as accessible as possible for all of her
Group members. She uses a template
letter to send to MPs so that people only
have to change the name and add their
address. “Although we mostly come
under the same MP, won’t it have more
impact if he gets 200 letters on the same
topic? I have 29 Members who aren’t on
computers so I give them printed letters
for them to handwrite their address
and the MP’s address so they can get
involved too.”
Beryl knows that pressure works
to make a change, but that it can
sometimes be difficult to get people on
board. She says: “If you have the cause
in your mind and you’re really keen
about it, you can make a difference.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, so
what’s holding you back from having
your say?”
While it can at times be challenging
Beryl says: “I won’t give up. I said to my
husband that we’d go up to Westminster
with some placards and shout ‘give us
back our prescriptions’. He said don’t
you dare!”
