PRESSING THE NEED
FOR PRESCRIPTIONS
WITH MPs
2016 marks the United Nations’ Year
of the Pulse which aims to promote
and encourage the production and
consumption of UK grown pulses.
As part of the initiative they are
developing recipes to help promote the
year and, as many of them are naturally
gluten-free, they have kindly given
us permission to include some in
Crossed Grain, see pages 37 and 39.

Interested in food? Like to eat out?
Watch this space!
We have recently trialled a Mystery diner survey
to gather feedback about Coeliac UK GF accredited
venues and received great feedback from 18 of our
fantastic volunteers.
The aim of Mystery diner is to gain feedback from
you on your experiences when eating out at GF accredited venues and how
the gluten-free offering can be improved if needed. The information we
gather will be used to improve the Coeliac UK GF accreditation scheme for
people with coeliac disease when eating out of the home.
We’re pleased to be able to extend the survey over the coming year and
for it to be included as part of a bigger role of Food Campaigner which is
being launched later this year. We’ll have more information about the new
volunteering role in the next issue, so watch this space to find out more
about how you can get involved!
THE LATEST
Kevan Jones MP, Chairman of our Cross Party Group hosted
a reception for Coeliac UK to highlight the growing trend of
restricting access to gluten-free food on prescription by NHS
England. MPs and Peers were told about the need to challenge
Clinical Commissioning Groups that are taking a short term
view on funding, and neglecting to think about the long term
consequences of policy change in this area.
Turn to pages 24 to 27 to read more on our campaign to retain
gluten-free food on prescription.
